Mom's Notes:

Language Arts: We got a bunch of new books to read. We listened to speeches and talked about our favorite parts. Kingston was able to listen for certain words in the speeches. He'd get a marshmallow each time he heard the word "Jesus." We learned that the roots of "luminescent" and "phosphorescent" mean light. We learned that "bioluminescent" means luminescence in living things as we looked at "bio" meaning life in words like "biology" and "biography." Kennedy is excited because a friend gave her some books to borrow (AtoZ Mysteries, Cam Jansen).


Math: Kingston asks for me to give him math problems. One morning he did 3+10 and 3+20 and 3+30 and 100+100 and 100+200 and 5+6 and 5+8. We talked about grouping those last two into two fives to find the answer easier. Kingston played prodigy. Kennedy did an addition worksheet and added 3 numbers together.

Social Studies: We read in Story of the World about the Dutch rebellion and Mary of Scotland. We listened to podcasts about the same things. We talked about Columbus on Columbus day.

Science: We talked about how different clouds mean rainy (black ones) or sunny (fluffy white ones) weather ahead. Kennedy says, "Bioluminescence is what plants and animals have the makes them glow. But do glow sticks have bioluminescence too?" We watched Mystery Doug to find out. He taught us about luminescent and phosphorescent material. There was a rock that was phosphorescent. We read about Hydroids. We watched some videos about coral reefs and reef animals. At Kids Town we played with some physics toys (pulleys, derby cars, vacuum, parachutes). We watched the science class on Force and Motion and built air-powered rockets. Kennedy watched generation genius. Kingston watched an episode as well.










Tech/Trep: Kingston built a tower and crayon slide out of crayons. We went to Kids Town and did a lot of engineering activities, including a robotic arm.






Elective: The kids did a lot of coloring. Kennedy practiced throwing her hardest at Kids Town. We had a dance party. The kids played dodgeball with dad. They made up their own game with balls on the stairs.

I used Keva planks to make a maze. Coding: I made a jumping game on Scratch. My brother and I made a marble maze out of straws and a plate. I made chocolates.  I practiced marksmanship. I coded games on Scratch. I played video games.
