Language Arts: We are still reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Kingston reads each night with Mom for about 10 minutes. Kennedy read her Highlights magazine. Kingston told a scripture story in his Sunday School class. Kingston played some word games on Starfall. He had stories read to him on Starfall. Kennedy is reading more A to Z Mystery books. Kennedy did some grammar worksheets. She did a word search on her math worksheet. Kennedy used a font book to write notes and words. Kennedy did a sample ISAT test. She got through 9 questions about reading comprehension. We talked about what "inference" means.
Math: We played lots of math games on Starfall. Kennedy liked 3D Space. "It's so fun. They give you instructions to do things. Like put the red cube under the sphere." There were place value games and addition/subtraction games. Their favorite place value game was road trip. Kennedy did a fractions worksheet. Kennedy did more math worksheets. Kingston made patterns (last picture). We calculated how many more people had died in a battle we read about.
Social Studies: We read about the first French colonies in Canada. We also read about how the Hudson bay was named and looked at it on our globe.
Science: We watched DIY Sci and learned about which cans will go farther in a race (creamier foods go faster than chunky/liquidy foods). Mystery Doug taught us about spiders. We read about sharks. Kingston says, "I learned that sharks have four rows of teeth. My favorite shark is a hammer shark. And if something comes in front of it then it eats it. Some sharks are silly and eat other silly things." He had been begging me to find a shark book to read to him. Kennedy learned "that their teeth lay down until a fish comes by. And the fiercest shark is the white shark. Sharks eat fish."
Tech/Trep: Kennedy is learning how to replace a tube on a bike. Both Kennedy and Kingston built a maze for a ball at The Art Museum. They also built with blocks. They built houses out of cardboard boxes. Kingston built a cool car modeled after his great aunt's remote control car.
Elective: Kingston can ride his bike on the grass around the house. We went to The Art Museum. We explored the exhibit and then played with art-themed games and toys and activities. We had a lot of fun exploring color mixing on the light table. We also ran around in the rain.
