Language Arts: Kingston read a book about butterflies "because I want to learn more about butterflies." Kennedy says, "This book (scripture stories) leaves out a lot that is in the actual scriptures." She read both the book and the scriptures and compared the contents. We are still reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe as a family. Kingston and Kennedy read books on Epic. "My favorite was Dora," Kingston says about the books from the library he read. "My favorite on Epic were the shark ones. Them is green so you can listen to them." Kennedy was excited that Epic has Boxcar Children books. She is reading Sleepy Hollow Sleepover. Kennedy made a notebooking page for Narnia.
Math: Kingston says, "I know that nine o'clock is the big hand on the twelve and the little hand on the nine. The twelve means o'clock." Kennedy counted money. Then she calculated the total of 3 amounts. They played more ABCYa and Starfall math games. We played Buy It Right, a money/shopping game. We had a lot of fun with a problem-solving game that had you match the patterns. The first levels were easy then it got harder.
Social Studies: We learned that James is Jesus' brother, the son of Mary and Joseph. We read about Japan's Hideyoshi and Ieyusa. Kennedy's A to Z Mystery books are set all around the U.S. and often have a map that shows how far away this book is set in comparison to their home in Conneticut. She looked on a globe to find Maine.
Science: Kingston learned about butterflies. We read about squids. Kennedy did a notebook page about what we read. Kingston watched a Generation Genius video about food we eat and about renewable resources. Mystery Doug asked, "Why do you think pumpkins change in their color from green to orange?" Kennedy says, "Because they are in the sun and they get sunburned." Kingston says, "I think them was ready." We learned that orange pumpkins were kind of created by humans.
Tech/Trep: We built a Lego Architecture set of the city of London. Kennedy and Kingston had to learn to follow visual instructions. Kingston build a log cabin from Lincoln Logs.
Elective: Kennedy and Kingston colored Halloween pictures. We went to the Artitorium (I forgot my phone for pictures). Kennedy did crafts and made a necklace and bracelet from beads. Both played on the Animation Station.
