Language Arts: Kingston practiced writing words. Kennedy is reading Maniac McGee. We finished reading The Silver Chair together. "I just remember Aslan. I remember Marsh Wiggles. I just remember the characters." Kennedy says, "The Silver Chair was about when Prince Rilian, Prince Caspian's son, was in the underground. He was enchanted and they saved him. Then Aslan took them back to their world."
Math: We played trouble. Kingston had to count the spaces to move. We played war. Kingston says, "I have a lot of cards. I won three wars. A half, a whole, and a half makes two whole." We practiced multiplication at the table: by one, zero, and ten. Then we recited the multiples of 3. Kennedy says, "Three, six, nine, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30. Three times five is fifteen. Two times three is six."
Social Studies: We went to the Museum of Clean. Kennedy says, "I learned that cleaning in the old days was really hard work. You had to wash your clothes by hand and beat out your rugs by hand. And feed the animals by hand. We need to make our bed every day so it stays clean." Kingston says, "Cleaning was hard work in the pioneer days. And now in these days we don't have to work a lots." We are learning about the American Revolution using Story of the World and Liberty's Kids. Kennedy says, "The Boston Tea Party is when the Americans in the colonies because of the taxes don't buy tea they use coffee or water."
Science: We watched mystery doug. Kennedy says, "Scientists think Pluto is not a planet. And we learned about the smallest animal and the smallest tree." Kingston says, "Do you know how to make a small tree? When it's growing then you cut off its branches. Then it's going to be really small."
Tech/Trep: We did the Flight Test for Engineering Week. Kingston says, "Us have to fly three times. We learned that it has to be slippery for the thing to go down fast. And we have to fly the first time with spoons." Kennedy says, "It had to take WD40 to make it slippery enough for the planes to go down the zipline. We timed each plane and my plane went faster. We learned that if we put the big part of the spoons in front then it would slow it down. If you have no other flaps on the wings then it will go slower. Kingston designed a tree house and then presented his design to his dad (ELA).
Elective: Kennedy and Kingston played hockey and volleyball and dodgeball. Kingston says, "I played dodgeball and hockey. Dodgeball is you line some balls at one line. Then you touch the wall. Then somebody say Ready, Set, Go and when they say Go you run and get the ball. And you throw them at other people and when you hit them then them out. Don't get hit." Kennedy says, "I liked playing hockey because it has a lot of sticks. I try not to step on the puck. Volleyball was hard for me to serve it. In the end I just had to throw it. Dodgeball you can't get hit but you have to throw it and hit someone. But if they catch it then you are out."
