May 3-9

Language Arts: Kennedy is reading the fourth Harry Potter book. Kingston played with word tiles and made sentences. We talked about how the different colors were different parts of speech (mostly). We are reading books aloud as a family. They wrote "Happy Mom's Day" on cards. Kennedy wrote letters to her aunts. Kingston played Wordscape.




Math: Kingston played a Thomas the Train math game. Kennedy did multiplication to find out how much three binders cost at $1 each. Kennedy read a chapter about area using unit squares and did 10 area problems. Then we rolled dice and made area buildings of the size we rolled. Kennedy learned the finger trick for multiplying by nine.







Social Studies: We read about Nat Turner's Revolt. We are reading a book about Sacajawea. We read about the Opium war between China and Britain.We read about the Mexican-American War and the Alamo.

Science: We watched our birds. We learned that chlorine cleans pools but can kill grass. We watched mystery doug and learned why flowers bloom in spring. Kingston says, "Rain makes flowers bloom in spring." We explored in nature. We looked at plum blossoms and dandelions. We drew what we saw.




Tech/Trep: Kennedy and Kingston helped assemble a pool. Kingston played Scyscraper and built buildings.

Elective: Kingston rode his bike. Kennedy rode a skateboard. They did dot marker drawings. They made cards using stencils. Kennedy is learning to wash dishes (home ec). They made paper flowers that bloom in water. We used a How to Draw kindle book to draw things.
