Language Arts: Kennedy is reading a lot of Vet Volunteers and Roald Dahl books. We did some word-building activities. They hit words with flyswatters. We used stamps to make words. We used Bananagram tiles to make words. We played Wordscapes. Kingston dictated a letter to his aunt. Kennedy gave oral book reports. Kingston read 2 early reader books. Everyone has signed up for our library's summer reading program and is reading their books. Kingston is impressing me with how much he can read from a book when I'm there with him. Kes is learning words as well, without me teaching him the words directly. Kennedy did some ELA worksheets. She learned about punctuation and complete sentences (the worksheets helped me see that she needed to learn this better). Kingston dictated a story. We made sentences using word tiles and talked about the different parts of speech and how to make complete sentences.

Math: Kingston played Sum Swamp. We read about Thales and the math he did. We practiced math facts. Kingston and Kes did an addition worksheet. The kids played math games on education.com. They worked on fractions. Dad taught them about improper fractions and converting from mixed numbers. We played Catan which is teaching the kids strategy, buying, trading, and how to add up to 12. We did watermelon-themed math pages.

Social Studies: We read about ancient nomads in A Children's History of the World. We are learning also about Ellis Island and Immigration. We watched a documentary about Ellis Island. We watched Schoolhouse Rock "Melting Pot" song. We watched Hard Hat Harry and learned about different careers like a police officer.

Science: We did an experiment with a chunk of ice to see how long it would melt if left on the counter. Each child guessed how long it would take. Kennedy wrote down the time we put it on the counter then recorded observations at various time and the time it was melted. We watched many  Mystery Doug videos.

Tech/Trep: They played Scyscraper and Roblox and built houses and mountains and lakes. Kingston built with Keva planks. The kids built with Legos. Kingston built a house out of Legos. He worked on it for days. Kingston used car tracks to build cities and freeways. They worked with Dad to complete some building projects: car tracks, a toy house, and a notebook box.

Elective: We did art with stamps. We played at parks. The kids rode a zipline. We listened to Verdi classical music. Kingston painted. The kids played Capture the Flag and soccer. They jumped on the trampoline. We learned about art from Creative Galaxy. We played at playgrounds. We painted. We played in the pool.

There is a knock on his door. It is Turtle. "I am so hungry today. I can't find any food. Do you have some you can spare?" Turtle asks Rabbit. Rabbit thinks about it.
