Language Arts: Kingston read a book about butterflies "because I want to learn more about butterflies." Kennedy says, "This book (scripture stories) leaves out a lot that is in the actual scriptures." She read both the book and the scriptures and compared the contents. We are still reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe  as a family. Kingston and Kennedy read books on Epic. "My favorite was Dora," Kingston says about the books from the library he read. "My favorite on Epic were the shark ones. Them is green so you can listen to them." Kennedy was excited that Epic has Boxcar Children books. She is reading Sleepy Hollow Sleepover . Kennedy made a notebooking page for Narnia. Math: Kingston says, "I know that nine o'clock is the big hand on the twelve and the little hand on the nine. The twelve means o'clock." Kennedy counted money. Then she calculated the total of 3 amounts. They played more ABCYa and Starfall math games...

Oct 19-25

Language Arts: We are still reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe . Kingston reads each night with Mom for about 10 minutes. Kennedy read her Highlights  magazine. Kingston told a scripture story in his Sunday School class. Kingston played some word games on Starfall. He had stories read to him on Starfall. Kennedy is reading more A to Z Mystery books. Kennedy did some grammar worksheets. She did a word search on her math worksheet. Kennedy used a font book to write notes and words. Kennedy did a sample ISAT test. She got through 9 questions about reading comprehension. We talked about what "inference" means. Math: We played lots of math games on Starfall. Kennedy liked 3D Space. "It's so fun. They give you instructions to do things. Like put the red cube under the sphere." There were place value games and addition/subtraction games. Their favorite place value game was road trip. Oct 12-19

Language Arts: We went to the library and the kids got new books. Kennedy is reading a lot of AtoZ Mysteries. "In the skeleton one it was April Fool's Day." After finishing a book she would tell Mom all about it. Kingston read a book about machines. We are reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe now. Math: Kingston played with a Chutes and Ladders board reviewing numbers to 100. Kingston counted to 100 and then went above and tried to count to 200. He would add infinity on top, saying, "Infinity one hundred and one" and kept going. Kennedy played on Prodigy. I taught her the trick to remembering odd vs. even so she didn't have to count by twos. Kingston and Kennedy played Tic-Tac-Toe Fractions. I taught them how to get the big number of blocks, then divide into the bottom number of groups, and take the top number of those groups and count the number of blocks. Mom's Notes: Language Arts: We got a bunch of new books to read. We listened to speeches and talked about our favorite parts. Kingston was able to listen for certain words in the speeches. He'd get a marshmallow each time he heard the word "Jesus." We learned that the roots of "luminescent" and "phosphorescent" mean light. We learned that "bioluminescent" means luminescence in living things as we looked at "bio" meaning life in words like "biology" and "biography." Kennedy is excited because a friend gave her some books to borrow (AtoZ Mysteries, Cam Jansen). Math: Kingston asks for me to give him math problems. One morning he did 3+10 and 3+20 and 3+30 and 100+100 and 100+200 and 5+6 and 5+8. We talked about grouping those last two into two fives to find the answer easier. Kingston played prodigy.
